Mindset and Performance Coaching Explained

The first moment I recognized that I needed help beyond books, courses, and technical coaching came in early 2020.

I was seated at the poker table with over $1,000 in front of me - which was a lot of money, and a good chunk of my poker fund (called a bankroll).

I’d spent the last few days studying and drilling poker concepts for a couple of hours each day.

A few hands into the session, I found myself in a familiar position - one that I’d studied sufficiently - yet, I went against the very thing I was supposed to do and knew to be the correct play.

I quickly brushed it off as early play nerves - I had just taken my seat a few minutes ago - and resumed my focus.

But then it happened again.

  • I was checking when I should’ve been betting.

  • I was calling when I should’ve been raising.

I was stuck.

I was trapped in a state of fear (hello, again, scarcity mindset), which led to passive poker play.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game of poker, this is a surefire way to lose a lot of money - fast.

One of the superpowers of the conscious mind is its reasoning and rationalizing capabilities. I proved to have a strength in this area as I continued to convince myself that I’d make the right (scary) decision the next chance I got.

Until I didn’t.

This is how my poker sessions played out over the next month.

My weeks were filled with studying and one-on-one coaching, yet, ever since moving up in stakes, I was stuck in a pattern of old beliefs, behaviors, and stories.

Unconscious mental programs were operating in the background and influencing my conscious thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Over the next couple of years, a variation of different mental patterns would make themselves known each time I attempted to grow, working to plague my efforts and bring me back into a state of familiarity and comfort.

I witnessed and experienced indecision, poor communication, ineffective stress management, fear-based thinking, and a general stuckness in a collection of patterns holding me back from shining my brightest.

Today, I hardly recognize that younger version of myself. The version of me who scraped by with a passive, people-pleasing attitude, working hard for the sake of working hard (versus working smart), lost, indecisive, unsure of himself - and who he was and what he wanted in life.

There was a collection of detrimental mental programs running in the background that began hijacking my conscious operating system. 

Yet, with the help of my Mindset and Performance Coach (who I still work with to this day), I not only got out of my own way on the poker table but have grown exponentially in both my professional and personal lives. 

Since hiring my own Mindset and Performance Coach, I’ve grown exponentially.

  • I gained clarity on who I was for the first time in my entire life - specifically what I stood for, what I wanted, and where I wanted to go.

  • I found my voice - and the confidence to speak up and use it.

  • I found the courage to leave a marriage that wasn’t serving me

  • I significantly increased my income, while finding the courage to leave a company responsible for 90 percent of my income (and then walking away from a 14-year career entirely a few years later).

Today, I’m confident, decisive, focused, and clear on who I am and where I’m going. I’ve learned how to set and enforce my boundaries. 

I’ve let go of scarcity-rooted money beliefs, learned how to forgive myself, learned how to love myself, learned how to give myself compassion and grace

And, it’s because of my life-changing experience as a client that I decided to leave a 14-year nutrition coaching career behind to go all in on Mindset and Performance Coaching.

Hypno-Mindset Coaching: What it Is and How it Works

You’re a product of your past.

It’s estimated that 95 percent of your belief system is formed by the age of seven.

Your past doesn’t define you - unless you let it.

If you let it, then it’ll continue to shape your future.

Yes, even though most of these were inherited by your environment and parents when you were younger (without your say - or knowing). 

That’s because it’s this collection of beliefs, behaviors, and stories that collectively work to keep you safe - stuck in a perpetual bubble of comfort and familiarity. 

Whenever you attempt to ascend to the next level - whether that be in your romantic life, professional life, or financial life - these saboteurs will make themselves known so that they can bring you back into your bubble of comfy familiarity.

So, what is Hypno-Mindset and Performance Coaching?

I use a combination of hypnosis, inner child healing, subconscious reprogramming, and mindset shift training, among other modalities to help you get out of your own way and stop self-sabotage at the source.

Let’s talk about hypnosis for a moment.

First, I like to highlight that I am a credentialed hypnotherapist, which means I completed hundreds of hours of supervised training to attain my credential (it wasn’t some weekend course).

I define hypnosis as “a state of deep relaxation with the intention to make positive change.” 

Through hypnosis - which has been around for more than 3,000 years, is research-backed, and wildly effective - I’m able to help you quiet the inner critic of your conscious mind and directly connect with your subconscious mind.

Why is this important?

Your subconscious mind is home to your memories, emotions, values, beliefs, and habits, as well as your creative power, imagination, and intuition. Collectively, these elements form the blueprint of who you are.

Through hypnosis, we’re able to uncover the origin of the collection of beliefs, behaviors, and stories (what I previously referred to as detrimental mental programs), and then begin doing the necessary work to unlearn and upgrade these elements to that they’re aligned with who you want to be and where you want to go.

The result: You break through limiting beliefs, overcome mental roadblocks, and conquer the fears holding you back from unlocking your full potential.

You’re an emotional being who craves acceptance, belonging, connection, and love, alongside a need to feel seen, heard, and validated.
